This is Gavel, a German shepherd who’s a police dog, but is also a social butterfly. Unfortunately, this friendly and happy personality of Gavel doesn’t suit police dogs. They need to be more serious. But, lucky for him, although he couldn’t be a police dog, he got another job in the same niche that suits him better.

This absolutely adorable German shepherd is from Queensland, Australia. Because he’s just too cute and friendly with everyone, he was unable to continue the police dog training program. However, he was lucky to get a new job.
On the very first day, the trainers didn’t know what to do with him. After some time, to everyone’s relief, a certain staff member had a great idea. With his personality, they understood that what would suit him the best would be politics.
Now, Gavel is in a much better place that’s perfect for his cheerful and joyful personality.
His current permanent home is the Government House, and he’s the Vice-Regal dog there.
Apart from outgrowing four ceremonial coats, Gavel has even undergone a major career change. He has bought and continues to bring immense happiness to Mrs. De Jersey, the Governor. Also, he’s greatly loved by everyone who has visited the estate. He also got a new official title called ‘Gavel VRD’ which stands for Vice-Regal-Dog.
Needless to say, Gavel loves his new job. Since he comes from a long pedigree line, he’s considered a royal blood dog. Although genetically he’d make an amazing police dog, it seems like Gavel had other plans. He just wanted to be an ordinary dog.
