Have you ever imagined blue-furred dogs? If yes, you don’t have to wonder anymore! Recently, locals spotted a pack of stray dogs with bright blue fur near an abandoned Russian factory. Needless to say, the eye-catching pics of the dogs took the Russian internet by storm.
The canines were spotted near a disused factory in the town of Dzerzhinsk, 370 kilometers east of Moscow. Many people suggested that the dogs might have been the victims of a rude prank. However, a report from Daily Mail clarified that the dogs have exposed themselves to chemical waste from the Soviet-era plant, hence the strange yet attractive coloring.
The Dzerzhinskoye Orgsteklo Plant Was Once A Large Chemical Production Facility
It used to manufacture hydrocyanic acid and plexiglass. However, the facility had to be closed down six years ago, due to financial problems.
Andrey Mislivets, the bankruptcy manager, questioned the legitimacy of the images, stating that it was a prank. He said they may have come across some old chemicals, probably copper sulfate, while wandering around the abandoned area.
After the pictures came to light, local authorities are heading to the area to check on the animals. Presently, Dzerzhinsk authorities are negotiating with the management of the Orgsteklo company for permission to enter the disused factory.
RIA Novosti Claimed That The Animals’ Health Isn’t In Danger
According to RIA Novosti, a Russian state-owned domestic news agency, Animal rights activists have stated that the dogs’ health is not in a critical condition. The health of the canines is satisfactory, according to preliminary visual inspection. Specialists too will enter the grounds and further examine the dogs.
The photos taken by locals caused a massive uproar in social media, triggering a variety of reactions from users. Some people found the situation funny and compared the canines to cartoons and movies. On the contrary, others were enraged that the health of these dogs might be at risk.
