Owner Treats Limping Dog Without Knowing He Was Copying The Owner Out Of Sympathy

Every now and then, pets never fail to prove their unconditional love for their owners. Needless to say, some pets are much more loving, sweet, and compassionate than most humans. The story of this dog named Bill is a great example of how animals can be much more sympathetic than humans at certain times, and it will surely fill your hearts with warmth.

Bill is a lurcher from London. He recently proved his immeasurable love and sympathy towards his injured owner by limping, trying to imitate the owner. Bill’s owner, a man named Russel, posted the touching yet hilarious video on Facebook, revealing the limping Bill. In the video, Bill is imitating Russel’s behavior as he walks beside him. The video soon went viral on Facebook, gaining over 11k likes and 26k shares within several days.

In the short video, one of Russel’s legs is placed in a plaster cast. He is enjoying a walk with Bill, his beloved dog. The endearing lurcher is clearly limping in the video, with one leg raised above the ground, trying to copy his owner’s movements.

As the caption of his Facebook post, Russel wrote: “Cost me £300 in vet fees and X-rays, nothing wrong, just sympathy. Love him.”

As stated by Cesar’s Way, it’s common for animals to imitate individuals of their own species. For example, humans imitate other humans, and even birds and non-human primates like monkeys imitate those of their own species. Dogs, however, not only imitate other dogs. Surprisingly, they tend to imitate their human owners too, even if it’s not necessarily beneficial to them.

But what’s the exact reason for this strange behavior of dogs? Answering that question, Cesar’s Way explains on their website: “Experts think that dogs’ tendency to copy us came about through thousands of years of selective breeding and training. Over time, it grew to become a built-in reaction.”
