When watching soccer matches, sometimes fans get a little too excited. In such instances, we just want to crash-land on the soccer field and show our favorite players how much we adore them. Such feelings aren’t new to diehard soccer fans. But even when you’re overwhelmed with emotions, it’s best to leave the game to professional players, unless you’re a dog.
This stray dog made the decision of taking the game to its own paws during a professional soccer match, on the 24th of December. The game took place at the Hernando Siles Stadium in La Paz, Bolivia. All eyes were on the stray pooch for three minutes straight, and he probably lived his best life during the interruption.
The fluffy dog kept happily chewing on the substitute goalkeeper’s shoe while running around the field. Not only that, but he even mistook the players’ attempts to bring him under control as belly rubs. After goofing around with boots and receiving some well-deserved belly rubs, Raúl Castro, a player from the home team, lifted and carried the pooch off the pitch.
The stray dog, who was later named ‘Cachito’, won the hearts of many fans. He was even considered a good luck charm to the home team, as Bolivia emerged victorious of the Christmas match, with a score of 3-0.
Unfortunately, Cachito’s story didn’t end there. Several days after the match, Cachito faced an accident and was found in poor condition. A local rescue eventually came to his rescue, and he’s slowly recovering now.
When Raúl Castro, the player who escorted Cachito out of the pitch heard the news, he has decided to adopt the puppy, upon his return from the next game.
