Michelle and Steven Burt, a couple from Florida, Massachusetts, took their three dogs on a JetBlue. As claimed by the airline’s protocol, during the flight, the dogs should be kept in carriers under their seats. However, something unexpected happened. A little while after the flight took off, their French Bulldog named Darcy showed difficulties in breathing. Michelle immediately checked on the dog by opening the carrier, although it’s against the airline’s protocols. Somehow, it turned out that Darcy was in a life-threatening situation.
Michelle states that she noticed how Darcy’s tongue has turned blue, which suggests a lack of oxygen. The bulldog was panicking and breathing heavily when Michelle took her out of the carrier and onto her lap. She was trying to help Darcy relax and cool down. One of the flight attendants named Renaud Fenster asked Michelle to put Darcy back, as she was violating the JetBlue protocol. However, Fenster quickly understood the gravity of the situation and alerted Diane Asher, his colleague.
Renaud and Diane then tried their best to calm down Darcy. They even used ice bags but failed. Renaud owns a bulldog himself, and he decided to ignore the airline’s protocol in order to save Darcy’s life.
Michelle explains that Renaud saved Darcy’s life by bringing a small oxygen tank with an attached mask. She believes that Renaud indeed saved Darcy’s life. Fortunately, when the flight landed, Darcy was doing very well. Thanking the flight attendants, Michelle wrote: “I wanted to say thank you JetBlue, and thank you to Renaud and Diane for doing their job and also being great humans.”
When the incident went viral, JetBlue was really pleased with the positive responses they received. So, if you found this story wholesome, check out the images above and share your thoughts with us in the comments!
