There’s an old saying that the only constant in life changes. Change is constantly taking place around us. But that doesn’t mean we can’t feel nostalgic for what once was a time when we lived differently when our ideas, perceptions, and needs were much simpler and our lives had considerably peaceful. And we wouldn’t have had it any other way.
I consider myself blessed to have grown up in an era where there was no social media. In my day, we were expected to play outside all day long until the sun went down! We got an abundance of exercise and we respected rules, the laws, and most of all, adults. We were expected to work and earn our own money when becoming of age where we could do so.
In today’s modern society, everyone keeps a phone in their face at all times. So much so that people have a great struggle socializing with one another. They not only disrespect each other but they also disrespect adults, authority, and rules. They resort to hiding behind the veil of social media to bully one another and to post their most private moments for the world to see.
Children/teens sit in the house all day long with an Xbox or computer, and as such, get very little exercise. Kids feel as if they are above the law and can pretty much do whatever they want. And to top it off, kids today feel they are “too good” to work odd jobs.
Do you think times have really changed??? I bet you do!! They not only have changed but they will continue to change from generation to generation. Not all changes are or will be bad. Life is still a beautiful thing and should never be taken for granted. Fortunately, you get to decide how you want to live it!
Illustrations below are good examples of how times have changed during the past decades and we hope you agree with them too.
