With the rapid advancement of technology, destinations that were previously impossible to be reached by the general public are now open to the public. For example, even if you’re not an astronaut, you can now take a trip to space and chat with others while looking at the magnificent view outside. The new spaceship by Space Perspective, named Neptune, offers the clients a gentle and peaceful ride into space. This incredible trip to space lets clients get the astronaut experience while sipping a cocktail.
The space balloon is roughly the size of a football field. The bulbous cabin is carried to space at a speed of 12 mph. This greatly contrasts the thunderous blastoffs given out by Virgin Galactic and Blue Origin. The pressurized lounge of Spaceship Neptune consists of a panopticon of windows that lets clients take in spectacular views of space. A bar, a bathroom, and WiFi are also included in the lounge. One pilot and eight passengers can travel at a time. First, they will zoom out on Kennedy Space Center, which is the home port of Spaceship Neptune. Then it becomes the Florida peninsula, then the East Coast, and finally the Earth itself.
Jane Poynter, a co-founder of Space Perspective, states that many people love to go at pre-dawn. This allows them to witness the mesmerizing sky and the awe-inspiring blue line that separates the Earth and space. She adds that a mesmerizing rainbow effect can also be seen.
High-altitude balloons have been tested and used by NASA since the 1930s. Although Spaceship Neptune doesn’t technically reach space, it replicates the suborbital rocket experience luxuriously. The prototype of Spaceship Neptune was successfully tested in June. Space Perspective has already started selling tickets for flights beginning in 2024, $125,000 per seat.
