This creature is also known as ‘cross fox’, and this extraordinary condition is called ‘melanism’. This is characterized by a lack of skin pigmentation which is different from albinism. The black pigmentation present on their skin is the cause of melanism. Generally, the skin color of animals with melanism is fully black. However, this case is different. This fox isn’t entirely black. This is why it’s even more surprising. In the past, cross foxes used to look very different from what they look like in the present. As claimed by wildlife experts, in the past, a huge number of cross foxes used to reside in North America.

Sadly, in the present, these creatures have almost become extinct. The main reason for this has been the massive demand for fur in the 20th century. The photographs of this unique creature were captured by Sam Gaby in Newfoundland, Canada. He did his best not to disturb them while filming.
