Everybody loves to read dog stories. Stories about people taking dogs on picnics, traveling with dogs, and dressing them up in various fancy clothes are all very interesting. However, this story is truly one-of-a-kind, and it’s not really about a dog. This story, which goes back to 1897, was originally shared on a Tumblr blog, where it gathered over 81K interactions.
In 1897, the original poster’s mother got married and the couple decided to adopt a dog immediately. Although OP’s mother had her own dog, she has lost him. When the couple went to the shelter, they got a special dog. Such dogs are only offered to experienced owners on favorable terms. This dog named Mazel weighed around 100 pounds, and her owners loved her dearly. But after some time, things started getting strange. Mazel learned to open door latches and even hunted squirrels successfully. However, she never barked. Although Mazel understood all the commands, she always thought for a few minutes before obeying them.
Therefore, OP’s parents decided to take her to a vet. Needless to say, Mr. Hamada, the vet, was shocked after he examined Mazel. His first response was “Where the hell did you get a wolf?” Apparently, Mazel was a wolf-dog, a hybrid of a wolf and, possibly, a Husky. The vet wasn’t against OP’s parents keeping her but warned that Mazel should be kept away from kids.
OP’s mother got pregnant two years later. The affectionate wolf-dog lovingly accepted OP as family and took great care of her. Mazel was an amazing guardian to OP’s little sister too, and the loving and loyal wolf dog passed at the age of 19. So, read the full story below, and share your thoughts with us in the comments.
