On the 21st of April, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 96th birthday. In order to celebrate this historic occasion, the official social media accounts of the royal family shared a new photo of the queen with the general public. In the image, the queen is seen standing in the middle of two white ponies owned by her.

These ponies are named Bybeck Katie and Bybeck Nightingale, and the pic was taken on the grounds of Windsor Castle. In the photograph, the queen wears a dark green coat. This is very symbolic as dark green is the livery color of Prince Philip, her late husband, who passed away on April 9th, 2021.
Wishing Her Majesty The Queen a very happy 96th birthday today!
An inspiration to so many across the UK, the Commonwealth and the world, it’s particularly special to be celebrating in this #PlatinumJubilee year. pic.twitter.com/iWfyorcd8I

This portrait carries much more meaning than what is seen on the surface. There’s a special reason why the queen chose to pose with a couple of ponies out of all animals. That is, it shows her everlasting affection for the animal.

The queen was aged 4 when she and her sister Margaret received their first-ever ponies. From that point onwards, up until last year, the queen continued to engage in horse-riding around the ground of Windsor Castle.
Happy Birthday Your Majesty!
Today as The Queen turns 96, we’re sharing this photograph of the young Princess Elizabeth aged 2.

The Instagram caption states that Queen Elizabeth is an enthusiastic supporter and spectator of the Royal Windsor Horse Show, an event held annually. The first Royal Windsor Horse Show was held in 1943, and the queen has attended every single one held ever since. This wonderful photo of the queen and the ponies were captured by photographer Henry Dallal who’s especially known for his pictures depicting equine beauty. So, take a look at the pics below and share your thoughts with us in the comments.
