Queen Elizabeth II who’s the longest-serving monarch of the United Kingdom, passed away on September 8th at the age of 96. Starting from 1952, the Queen’s reign lasted for 70 years, witnessing massive social and political changes. She spent her final moments peacefully at Balmoral, her Scottish estate. Along with her legacy, she’s also famous as a huge animal lover. In fact, she has owned over 30 corgis throughout her reign.
King Charles III, the eldest son of the late Queen, stated that her passing bought ‘great sadness’ to him and his family. He also stated that her loss will be greatly felt by lots of people across the world. As announced by Buckingham Palace, King Charles III, and Camila, now Queen Consort, are set to return to London and address the nation on Friday.

Following the doctors’ concern regarding the Queen’s health, Senior royals gathered at Balmoral. This included all of her children, her grandsons Prince Harry and Prince William. Following her death, Prince William, who’s now heir to the throne, and his wife, Catherine, became the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Cornwall.

The Queen has often been spotted with a pack of corgis around her, and they have become an integral part of her image. The royal line of corgis started with Susan, a Pembroke Welsh corgi. She also attended annual horse trials and even raised a chameleon when she was younger. These are proof that she was truly an animal lover.
The Queen was born in Mayfair, London, on April 21st, 1926, as Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor. Following the death of her father King George VI, she ascended the throne on February 6th, 1952 at age 25. Her reign spanned numerous milestones undergone by the nation, such as the transition from empire to Commonwealth and the Cold War. It even spanned United Kingdom’s entry into and exit from the European Union. Her reign even spanned 15 prime ministers, from Winston Churchill to Ms. Truss.
